City of Kings Mountain 150th Anniversary Grant Recipients

The Albemarle Foundation awarded grants to celebrate the City of Kings Mountain's 150th anniversary and invest in its future. Twenty-one organizations were awarded grants, prioritizing initiatives that are seeking to advance workforce readiness and community resilience:
Earl Scruggs Center
Support will go toward the "Healing Waters: A History of Cleveland County’s Mineral Springs" exhibit, which explores the history of medical tourism in Cleveland County
Washington Outreach Ministries
Assistance to combat hunger through education, advocacy, partnerships, and distribution of food and essential resources to those most in need
Kings Mountain Crisis Ministry
Provide critical assistance to vulnerable residents of Kings Mountain facing financial crises, including help with utility bills, rent, food and clothing
Cleveland County Cares
Resources will bolster the iSMILE program, addressing the social, economic and environmental needs of underserved and isolated elderly residents in the community
Kings Mountain Rotary Foundation- Boy Scout Troop 92
Funding to enable the purchase of canoes and supplies for annual scouting trips and leadership development experiences
Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity
Technology enhancements and security upgrades for staff equipment and ReStore building
Feeding Kids Cleveland County
Contributions will provide food and book boxes during school breaks and weekend food bags for students living in food-insecure homes across Cleveland County
Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland County
Expansion of after-school and summer enrichment programming across two sites serving Kings Mountain students
Kings Mountain YMCA
Resources to strengthen after-school programming by expanding opportunities for children ages 5-12, in collaboration with offsite organizations to address growing community needs
Communities in Schools of Cleveland County
Assistance for relationship-building programs to students at four locations, offering services for basic needs, healthcare, mental health, tutoring and other support to eliminate barriers to success
Cleveland County Board of Education Support for "Launching Literacy Leaders," an innovative kindergarten orientation day which combines early literacy activities with future-ready workforce skills
Cleveland County Board of Education
Support to strengthen the Cleveland County Career and Technical Education Work-Based Learning Internship Program, providing valuable opportunities for high school students
Cleveland County Crime Stoppers
Contributions will fund programming that promotes community safety and fosters a secure environment for living, working and recreation
Piedmont Council Boy Scouts of America
Financial support for Cleveland County scouts attending summer camp
The W.A. Mauney Historic Home Foundation
Support will facilitate the restoration of the Historic W.A. Mauney Homeplace in Kings Mountain
Hospice of Cleveland County
Resources will enhance critical infrastructure to ensure the delivery of top-quality care for hospice patients
Justice Ministries
Assistance for the local expansion of support for survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation
Healthcare Foundation of Cleveland County
Funding for the establishment of four life jacket loaner stations to promote water safety in Cleveland County
Gabe Devoe Foundation
Enhance programming that improves literacy skills and fosters a love of reading among young students in underserved communities
Children’s Cancer Partners of The Carolinas Inc
Support will provide comprehensive resources and compassionate care for Cleveland County families whose children are battling cancer
Kings Mountain Scholarship Fund
Aid will fund a scholarship for a deserving Kings Mountain High School student
